HubSpot Filter Deals by Description

Further to yesterday's tip about using 'Associated Company' as a quick filter, another point to note is that the Deal search will search across Deal Name and Deal Description.

Most portals don't use the Deal Description property (it is usually left blank).

But since Deal Description is checked when doing a general search there's an opportunity to use the property to your advantage.

One way we've done this is to use a Workflow to popuplate the Description with some common items (eg Company name, Contact name, Custom Type, etc).

I wouldn't say this is something I strongly recommend - after all it is basically replicating data (ie generally try to avoid this) - but can be a handy tip for specific situations.

Some teams we work with love using the search field, and dislike the quick filters, so we've implemented this in those cases.
